骨细胞的功能,可以用骨细胞膜现象来解释。在透射电镜及扫描电镜下初步揭开了它的解剖学奥秘。骨细胞膜受激素的影响而对细胞外液及骨液间的钙浓度起调节作用;它具有电性能,在机械应力下产生压电效应,可刺激骨生长;它有二种电流来源,所产生的电位差可影响钙的渗透性。在它的表面有激素受体,对多种激素如PTH、CT等产生细胞应答。胞体钙浓度及cAMP的改变,很大程度上传递着激素应答和电反应。目前国外对骨细胞膜的研究,尚在萌芽阶段。其重要性表现在,此研究已达骨细胞超微结构的水平,已超越单一器官的范畴。因此,有的国家如西德己将此列为国家科研项目,这是国外医学新的动向之一,值得注意。
