为了搞好引进设备的管理,我们曾赴日、港等地考察卡特皮勒远东公司的维修服务项目,参观三菱重工株式会社和香港信昌建设机器有限公司的维修部,还接触了一些其他厂家与施工点,其组织形式、服务内容、维修技术的某些部分可供借鉴,尤其是工程机械在工业发达国家是否需维修的观点得到了澄清.卡特皮勒公司以相当大的人力、物力来搞维修服务,从公司到厂家都设立维修部、服务部,可见他们比较重视维修服务.他们的观点是:“维修服务是维护本厂信誉的手段,同时也可为设计制造提供资料”,他们认为机器不维修是一种浪费,维修也可为设计制造提供技术情报.国外一些公司的维修并不局限于修理机器,其维修服务还包括如下内容:操作和维修技术,状态检查系统,备件供应,检查设备与专用工具,技术研究课程,底盘维修与保养等.

The maintenance of some foreign companies is not limited to repairing machines. The maintenance services also include the following: operation and maintenance technology, state inspection system, spare parts supply, Inspection equipment and special tools, technical research courses, chassis maintenance and maintenance.
