The concept of dual-mode operation with an additional capability in addition to continuous-wave power output is the combination of blocking and fraudulent interference in a single electronic countermeasure system. A common approach to dual mode operation with TWTs is to use a dual tube chain consisting of a continuous wave excitation tube and a trans-parent output tube with pulsed power output.
