The Bonneville Energy Management Office in the United States has submitted proposals for the development of bioenergy applications and the establishment of pilot demonstration projects in the Northwest Pacific and Alaska. Wells have signed seven contracts. The work funded by the Department of Energy through the Western Pacific and Alaska Bioenergy Development Corporation will focus on resource development, regeneration, and process utilization, as well as the identification and mitigation of environmental impacts. The activities included: the establishment of a municipal solid waste energy conversion plant; the preparation of the “Guidelines for Developing Wood (Biomass) Energy Plans” and the holding of demonstrations of wood harvesting innovations for the development, promotion and demonstration of harvesting, collecting and processing of trails of trees and wood Residue equipment and methods; holding demonstrations on the recovery of forest waste materials and biomass sales; establishment of remote biomass recovery systems in Alaska; surveys related to increased use of biomass as energy and fiber
