Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, reported by the United States WedMD Public Medical News (2010/2/10) that nearly half of women did not dial 119 when they thought they had a heart attack. This is just one of several noteworthy findings from the Go Red for Women research program sponsored by the American Heart Association, which began in 1997 to study women’s heart health awareness and trends. Researchers at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York survey 2,200 women over the age of 25 over the telephone and internet to identify those who know that heart disease is the number one killer of women and how much to do when they have a heart attack.
