火白菜是南京地区夏淡季主要蔬菜,夏季高温、暴雨和病虫害,严重威胁其稳产高产,影响市场供应,因此,我们于1973～1976年育成了抗逆性强、高产稳产和优质的火白菜优良组合——AB矮脚黄×短白梗F_1,比当地品种增产30.0～152.8％,现已大面积推广,成为当地“堵伏缺”的主栽品种,定名为“矮杂一号”。 为解决白菜一代杂种的大量简易制种技术问题,同期又育成了矮脚黄雄性不育两用系‘ AB矮 3’和‘ AB矮 8’两个新品系;并证明其不育性属核质遗传型,主要由一对隐性基因控制。目前已大面积应用于矮杂一号火白菜的制种。
