The P16 gene (MTS1, CDK4I, CDKN2) is a newly discovered candidate tumor suppressor gene and is located on human chromosome 9p21. The encoded phosphoprotein P161NK4 is an inhibitor of CDK4 and is involved in cell cycle regulation in esophageal cancer, Pancreatic cancer and other digestive tract tumors have high mutation rates and are closely related to the occurrence and development of many human tumors. This article aims to review the relationship between P16 gene mutation and the occurrence and development of digestive tract tumors.
