贵州现代商人阶层最初生产于1890～1905年间,兴盛于20世纪20、30年代.其来源主要由士绅向商绅的转化、知识分子的介入、留学回国人员经商、传统商人向现代商人的转化.商人阶层对贵州早期现代化的作用主要表现为:现代经济观念的输入、对现代工业化的推动、城市化的影响、政治参与的扩大等.
