镍的多数化合物及金属镍有致癌性。人类吸入含镍的粉尘能导致肺癌的发生;经注射途径,动物也能生成肿瘤;鼻咽癌高发区,病人体内的镍含量也比正常人高。镍在癌症方面的研究颇被重视:不少学者报道,镍的化合物能使体外培养细胞恶性转化;结晶Ni_3S_2由于有结晶结构,又不溶于水,能被培养细胞吞噬,导致细胞恶性转化;故在科研工作中有其特殊的地位。
