Chinese Repository《中国丛报》(1832-1851)是19世纪中期西方人在中国创办历时最长、影响最大的英文刊物,为当时西方人全面了解中国提供了一个平台。《中国丛报》首次将《御纂医宗金鉴》、《蚕桑合编》和《农政全书》三部中国科学典籍译介到英语世界,为中国科学西传做出了贡献。然而,由于译介者本人中文水平有限,或受“西方中心主义”意识形态的影响,译介中也存在一定的误读。
Chinese Repository The China Journal (1832-1851) was the longest and most influential English language publication that Westerners founded in China in the mid-19th century. It provided a platform for Westerners to fully understand China at that time. For the first time, the “China Journal” translated and translated the three Chinese classics of science such as “Medical Records of Emperor Zongsong,” “Sericulture Sangjiu,” and “The Complete Works on Agriculture” into the English-speaking world, thus contributing to the Chinese science of Western communication. However, due to the limited Chinese level of the translator or the ideological influence of “Western-centrism”, there is some misunderstanding in the translation.
