第一例肺癌报告约在1805年。直到20世纪初期,仍被认为是一比较少见的肿瘤,1912年 Adler 曾收集文献仅374例。近几十年肺癌的发病率日益增多,死亡率亦随之增加,在一些国家中已成为最常见的恶性肿瘤。英国近30年内肺癌死亡率增加了40倍,美国男性肺癌较四十年前增加了18倍,女性亦有增加,美国自1930年～1963年肺癌死亡人数增加500%(表1)。
The first case of lung cancer was reported in about 1805. Until the early 20th century, it was still considered a relatively rare tumor. Adler collected only 374 cases in 1912. In recent decades, the incidence of lung cancer has increased and the mortality rate has increased. It has become the most common malignancy in some countries. The mortality rate of lung cancer in the United Kingdom has increased by 40 times in the past 30 years. The lung cancer in American men has increased 18 times compared with 40 years ago. Women have also increased. The number of lung cancer deaths in the United States has increased by 500% from 1930 to 1963 (Table 1).
