中国早期西洋画,是明清时期西画东渐的成果,是中国美术发展史新的里程碑。明束至清末期间西方绘画经由欧洲基督教士来华传教活动、中西通商贸易、西方画家来华侨居传授和中国美术留学或游学生等途径在中国传播。主要包括清官传教士画家及其中国弟子、宫廷画家创作和中国南方遇商港埠民间画家创作,以及留学欧美的中国美术家创作这三大部分。因此,这些西洋画具有重要的历史、艺术和学术价值。为此,编者特邀胡光华教授与一些年轻学者对中国早期西洋画进行题材和专题分类研究。包括:社会生产与市井生活风情画、肖像画及船舶与港埠风光画、风景画和清代来华侨居的英国画家钱纳利(George Chinnery)等,以连载方式向读者揭开中国早期西洋画的发展历史。
Early Western painting in China was the result of the gradual progress of western painting in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and a new milestone in the history of the development of Chinese art. During the period from Ming Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty, Western painting was spread in China through the missionary activities of Christian believers in China, the trade between China and the West, the teaching of Chinese artists living in China to the West and the study of Chinese art students or traveling students. Mainly include the official missionary painter and his Chinese disciples, court painter creation and South China business port city port painter creation, as well as to study in Europe and America, the creation of these three Chinese artists. Therefore, these Western paintings have important historical, artistic and academic values. To this end, the editor-in-chief invited Professor Hu Guanghua and some young scholars to carry out themes and topics in China’s early Western paintings. Including: social production and urban life style paintings, portraits and ship and harbor portraits, landscape paintings and the Qing Dynasty Chinese resident Chin Chinry (George Chinnery), etc., to readers uncover the early Chinese Western painting Development History.
