2010年中共中央、国务院《关于深入实施西部大开发战略的若干意见》提出积极建设广西东兴重点开发开放试验区。东兴地处我国与越南及东盟国家连接的要道,属于外语研究的重要区域。随着试验区内第一所大学、广西财经学院防城港校区于2012年成立,将从教学和科研方面近距离服务东兴开发开放试验区,积极承担试验区的商务英语研究,为试验区的人才培养和商务英语的学科建设收集资料和积累经验。东兴开发开放试验区期待得到更多学界人士的关注。
