1948年底北平解放,翌年春延安平剧研究院进驻市内东城南湾子四号,剧院改称中国戏曲研究院.初夏的一天上午,戏曲改进局局长田汉同志、著名京剧表演艺术家梅兰芳先生,剧作家翁偶虹先生,还有近代菊坛一代宗师王瑶卿先生莅临剧院看望大家,从此,我得以与王老相识.届时的王老两鬓飞霜,已年近占稀.他身着灰色长衫,手执黑色拄杖,清癯削瘦的身躯略显弯曲,但其精神矍铄,思维敏捷,谈笑风生,性格爽朗,待人十分热情.面对这位心系菊坛,卓有建树的老人,使我们在场的诸位无不为之肃然起敬.
