In this experiment, we observed the effect of artificial hypothermia on the ultrastructure and histochemical changes of ischemic myocardium after left coronary artery ligation in rats. It was found that artificial hypothermia generally reduced myocardial ultrastructural lesions at 6 hours after coronary artery ligation, especially for nuclear chromatin and mitochondria, and preserved ischemic myocardium with strong succinate dehydrogenase and lactic acid. Dehydrogenase, Mg ++ activated ATPase activity and more glycogen. These results further confirmed the protective effect of artificial hypothermia on ischemic myocardium at the cellular and subcellular levels.
