记忆对我们每个人来说都是非常宝贵的东西，然而阿尔茨海默病（俗称“老年痴呆症”）就像是存在于患者脑海里的橡皮擦，会一点一点地把他们的记忆抹去。对每个人来说，“自我”都是最重要的东西，然而阿尔茨海默病却是能把“自我”抹杀掉的可怕疾病。但事实上，很多人并没有意识到阿尔茨海默病的可怕，因为很多阿尔茨海默病患者都是老年人，不少人从潜意识里就觉得“老糊涂”是一种常事而根本联想不到这是一种疾病，直至病患情况越来越严重才发现。当我们觉得自己记忆力差时，我们偶尔会开玩笑地说一句自己患了老年痴呆症。从中也多少可以看出，我们并不是太把老年痴呆症当一回事，或者说根本就不了解这个病。
我们这个社会对老年人有很高的包容力，这是一件好事，但我们更应该做到给予老人真正的关怀。不要把老年痴呆当成一种自然而然的事，无论对象是年轻人还是老人，失去记忆、失去自我是都一件相当可怕的事。关爱应该从了解做起。
