1998年7月18日,长征三号乙第5枚运载火箭将中德合资、法国宇航公司制造的“鑫诺一号”通信卫星准确地送入预定轨道,圆满地履行了发射合同。这是自1996年10月20日“长二D”成功发射第17颗返回式遥感卫星以来,长征系列运载火箭的第十一次大捷。尤其值得庆贺的是,“鑫诺一号”是我国发射的第一颗欧洲制造的通信卫星,“鑫诺一号”提高了中国运载火箭国际商业发射服务的声誉。同时,这也是按市场经济模式运作的
On July 18, 1998, the 5th carrier rocket of Changzheng No. 3B accurately sent the “Xinnuo No. 1” communication satellite manufactured by Sino-German joint venture and French Aerospace Company to the scheduled orbit, fulfilling the launch contract satisfactorily. This is the eleventh time the Long March series of carrier rockets have been launched since the “Changjiu D” successfully launched the 17th return-type remote sensing satellite on October 20, 1996.
