In this paper, a set of methods to analyze and process the flight spectra of secondary decomposition products in molecular beam photolytic reaction experiments has been developed, which improves the initial discussion of Kroger and Riley. This article shows that many important pieces of information can be drawn from highly averaged experimental data. This includes the average translational energy distribution of secondary decomposition products, the spatial anisotropy parameters, and the reaction ratio between parallel competitive channels. The simulation results show some of the main features of the second-order decomposition reaction.
