1985年3月,我曾赴日本作为期十五天的考察;同年12月至今年元月,我又有机会随中国工艺品进出口总公司组织的专业小组分别赴联邦德国,意大利和日本三国进行为时三十七天的考察。两次先后走了三个国家的十九个城市和地区,参观、考察了有关的十个家具生产厂、七个机械设备制造厂、三个家具配件厂和五个家具陈列馆。我对这两次考察总的印象是:德、意、日三国的制造技术发展很快, In March 1985, I went to Japan for a fifteen-day expedition.
