张秉贵,一个极其普通的名字,却是一个不凡的劳动英雄。张秉贵一九八七年因病去世,为纪念他,全国总工会、商业部和北京市委,在王府井大街北京市百货大楼门前广场,为他造起一尊塑像,他在这个被誉为“中国第一店”的大商场,服务了三十二年。在寸土寸金、各色店铺鳞次栉比的王府井大街,百货大楼正门广场,称得上宽阔敞亮。张秉贵塑像位置,因距楼体较近,其前方开阔地面,不但可供人来人往,还能方便人们在各个角度瞻仰塑像。我心里,那广场几乎可称一块“圣地”。塑像虽为半身,却给人十分伟岸的感觉。
Zhang Binggui, an extremely common name, is an extraordinary labor hero.
