榆树桩景《晚霞》(见左下图照),是笔者比较得意的习作之一,其下部主干几乎是一枯片,然上部主干及枝叶却生机盎然,充满生命活力。题名《晚霞》,喻日之夕阳余辉,虽近黄昏,然绚丽的霞光普照大地,仍给世间万物以无私奉献。十年前,笔者从农友那里得到几个已成活的桩胚。其中有一个基部粗大、大半枯黑且桩心已成空洞的榆树桩。其两边及背后尚有部分树皮鲜活,且有少量须根,生命犹存。然有趣的是其状似元宝,
Elm stump King “sunset” (see photo below left), is one of the author more proud of the exercise, the lower part of the trunk is almost a dry film, but the upper trunk and leaves are full of vitality, full of vitality.
