大眼狮鲈(Stizostedion Vitreum)英文名Walleye是北美洲重要的经济淡水鱼类,有“湖中金子”之雅称。在北美作为一种主要游钓品种。也是餐桌上淡水鱼中享有盛名的美味佳肴。在加拿大其产量占淡水鱼中的第二位,产值与效益位居首位。大眼狮鲈在美国和加拿大已有一百余年的养殖历史。多年来,加拿大政府成立了多个苗种繁育站,进行人工繁殖、苗种生产和自然放流。目的是对资源进行保护和补充。哈尔滨市水产研究所于1993年,首次将此鱼引入我国,并进行了池塘养殖和大水面养殖的试验,初步获得成功。实践证明,大眼狮鲈适应我国北方气候条件,生长良好,有希望在我国推广养殖。
