最近一个时期,在档案界围绕档案馆的编研工作,引出了不少议论。这对于从事编研工作的同志来说是件好事,有一些看法和意见使我们从中获益匪浅。但其中也有一些看法值得商榷,一是将编研工作与档案馆的服务工作对立起来;一是将编研工作与历史研究工作简单地等同起来。我们认为这两种认识都是有失全面与准确的,在此,我们想结合几年来编研工作的具体实践,谈谈我们的看法。一、编研工作就是服务性工作档案馆的工作概括起来讲,可以分为两大部分,一是保管,包括收集、整理、编目、技术保护等工作;二是提供利用,包括编研和接待工作,即主动提供与被动提供。这两部分内容构成了档案馆工作的有机体。从总体而言,两者都是以档案馆的服务性为前提而存在的,很难说哪一项工作更重要或哪一项工作不重要。编研工作作为提供利用的一个方面,本身就是服务性的,它不单服务于社会,而且也服务于馆内其它各项工作。具体表现在以下几个方面:
