Transformational System Improvements (3) - Lean Management (Top) Organizations design value creation processes based on their unique operational strategies to achieve their respective strategies. Often, the entire process can be redesigned through business process reengineering or through Six Sigma can be used to reduce endogenous variations in the process and thereby identify opportunities to improve the process. Lean, which we discuss in this chapter, is another process improvement that seeks to minimize waste and maximize value. Many companies keen on lean manufacturing, such as Toyota, Dell and many others, have been so successful that they have made it a global competitive concept.
