On July 22, 1944, the U.S. Yanan Military Observer Team named “Dixie Mission” arrived in Yan’an. The observation team stayed in Yan’an for about a year and established a unique official channel for the United States’ relations with the Chinese Communists during the Anti-Japanese War.
