1997年5月26日,中国文物考古界的著名专家、学者对山东省桓台县史家遗址发掘成果进行评审和鉴定指出,“山东省桓台县史家遗址的发掘,发现了龙山文化、岳石文化和商代的遗迹及遗物,取得了重要收获,是我国的又一次重大考古发现”。史家遗址的发掘是桓台县古代文明的又一生动体现。其实,在此之前,桓台县就先后出土了大量文物。考古发掘的出土文物证明,桓台县历史悠久,是中华文明的重要发祥地之一。桓台县还涌现了许多留名史册的有影响的人物。文物之邦,诗书世泽——这是人们对桓台县灿烂的古代文明的由衷赞誉。
