加里宁在“论共产主义教育”一书中教导苏联青年要重视数学课时这样写道:“第一,因为数学可以使人们的思想纪律化,能教会人们合理地去思维,无怪乎人们说,数学是锻炼思想的体操……;第二,因为实际运用数学的范围是很广的,将来不管你们研究那一门科学,不管你们进哪一个大学,不管你们在那一个部门工作,如果你们想在那里作出某种成绩,那么,到处都必须要有数学知识。”我以为,这二点可以说就是学习数学的目的,就是数学教学的任务。它们彼此补充,相辅相成。二者是不可偏废的。教育革命以前,有些人只记得加里宁提出的第一点,只强调数学是锻炼思想的体操,完全忽视了学数学
