Different from the traditional translation standards based on the source texts, this paper attempts to introduce the cultural-social parameters of each period into the evaluation of the translation of the “moral classics” to broaden the paradigm of the study of translatology. Through the analysis of translation versions of “moral classics” in different periods, we think that translators have already been influenced and restricted by external factors before translating, which is not only the result of translator’s mental work but also the product of the times. Accordingly, we advocate that in the future translation studies, we should break the original mode of attaching to the original text and judging the translation of the translated version, and take more macro factors into consideration.
