People from fishing villages of Zhoushan Archipelago made their names known in the art world first in 1984. Today, more than 500 of their painting masterpieces have appeared in art exhibitions in various countries such as Australia, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Belgium and America. Twenty-four paintings have been awarded with national and provincial prizes. China National Gallery of Fine Arts and China Arts Gallery have put their artworks onto their precious collections. Some of these local artists are now commissioned artists. Their artworks appear in postcards and tourist souvenirs.But these artists came from fishing villages scattered over 1390 islands
