西方后现代艺术出现以后,雕塑形态本身也发生了巨大的变化,写实的雕塑渐渐退居边缘,缤纷多彩的抽象与半抽象的、具象和非具象雕塑以及各种各样的与现代工业、科学技术相结合、采用后工业社会材料与后现代观念的制作,渐次成为了雕塑艺术的主体。这种材料和观念上的巨大转换,使公众对前所未有的陌生雕塑语言产生了隔膜。当这种观念样式上的“创新”不能与公众对接而处于失语状态的时候,真正意义上雕塑艺术的创作落入了危险的深渊。
