American confessional poet Anne Sexton in the “Housewives” and “her class” two poems, respectively, depicts two completely different female images: ordinary family women and extraordinary witch. The two seemingly different, but in fact have a similar life experience. They do not agree with the traditional social norms on the positioning of women in life, but also unable to break away, the result is only painful to live. Although Sexton is known for bold disclosure of personal privacy in her poems, her two poems reflect deeply on women’s own situation and life value, revealing the common predicament of modern women.
