On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council and the Central Military Commission, I pay my highest tribute to the Chinese and overseas Chinese and children at home and abroad who participated in the anti-Japanese war veterans, patriots and anti-Japanese generals throughout the country and established historical exploits for the victory of the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese War "- Speech from Xi Jinping at the Symposium on the 69th Anniversary of the Victory of Anti-Japanese War Compatriots and comrades and friends: Today is the anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Today, 69 years ago, the Chinese people, after arduous and bloody battles, defeated the most heinous Japanese militarist aggressors and won the first complete victory of China in invading foreign enemies since modern times.
