On September 16, the first seminar on economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation co-sponsored by Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and Yunnan Provincial People’s Government was held in Kunming, Spring City. More than 460 experts and scholars, business delegations and business representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait gathered together to promote cooperation and development across the Taiwan Strait and speed up cross-Strait cooperation on the theme of “Taiwan enterprises enter Yunnan, west into ASEAN and open up South Asia.” The four places relied on the geographical advantages of Yunnan to take part in the economic cooperation in the ASEAN region and let Taiwan enterprises enjoy a wide range of discussions and exchanges on issues such as “zero-tariff” treatment of Taiwan’s FTAs and entering the ASEAN market through Yunnan.
