事物都有它不足的一面,盆景也不例外。盆景的不足是理论方面比较薄弱,特别是与实践取得的成就相比就显得尤其突出。盆景理论在自主创新方面确实让人不能满意,长期以来它只能依靠着“诗兄画长”和“园林哥们”的情谊才勉强支撑住门面——没人能否认这个事实。当然,盆景界也一直很努力,希望能改变这种现状。记得上世纪90年代中期,有关刊物曾经组织过一次级别不算低的研讨,试图对盆景的本质特征进行叙述归纳,目的显而易见,就是想借以冲击盆景理论欠缺的窘境。设想似乎是先从点开始,进而入面,渐次推开,如果顺利的话,无疑将实现历史性超越。很可惜,讨论没能坚持下去。什么原因不太清楚,也许是盆景
