Aventis was founded in early 1999 by the merger of the French company Rhone-Planck and the company Hoechst. In 1999, Aventis sales of pesticides were 4.055 billion euros (3.8 billion US dollars), a decrease of 0.6% from 1998. Herbicides decreased by a maximum of 7.3%, and insecticides and fungicides remained flat. But the insecticide fipronil and herbicide are different.
