上海中学是全国最早配置计算机、开设计算机课程,并实现网络互联的学校之一。1996年校园网建成并开通,同年12月初在市教委领导的关怀下,上海中学中文主页率先进入国际互联网;1997年4月,学校部分微机实现与Internet国际互联网联通。1997年7月,在市教委组织召开的”教育手段现代化现场会”上,唐盛昌校长作了《建立完善高效的自我支撑系统》主题发言,受到与会领导和专家的一致好评。1997年11月,在”全国中小学实践教学与应用教育技术现场会”上唐盛昌校长作《现代教育技术——培养高素质人才的载体》主题演讲,赢得了与会国家教委领导和兄弟省市领导的高度评价,确立了上海中学在现代教育技术和现代教育理论运用方面的领先地位。1998年2月,上海中学作为上海科技网37个接入站之一,全校全部实现与国际互联网联通,1998年11月完成shs.sh.cn的域名注册,借助科技网的连接优势,上海中学开始拥有自己的站点,实现了真正意义上的与国际互联网接轨。 学校结合社会的需求和学校自身发展的需要,
