This report runs through the idea that economic competitiveness should be studied from the standpoint of knowledge storage and investment, with a particular focus on the region. The development of communications and information technology enables information to be delivered instantaneously regardless of where it is located. This seems to indicate that the geographical factor is logically less important in economic research. In fact, in many cases the exact opposite. When the scope of work of enterprises and individuals becomes larger, the geographical concentration of relevant resources and industries, especially the concentration of knowledge, remains one of the key factors for the development of any country or region, especially the most advanced economies. In addition, when historical factors affect the landscape, such as the proximity to raw materials and the markets are weakening, the availability of resources from other places aggravates the competition in the region - in many ways, globalization is intensifying its localization.
