越南儒学因曾为王官之学而积淀深厚,马来西亚儒学因华族有一定话语权而生生不息,印尼儒学因孔教化而呈现异彩,这些国家的儒家文化都有较为重要的研究价值。1980年以来汉语学界关于上述诸国儒学与孔教的研究,呈现出以下特点:一是考察诸国儒家文化流播的历史,重心在总结镜鉴意义;二是研究儒家文化在这些国家华人社会中的作用,重心在返本开新和当代价值;三是探讨儒学在这些国家薪火相传的特殊策略,重心在揭示当地华族作为少数族裔“以教(孔教)保学(儒学)”、强化族群意识、维系文化认同的内在理路。
