Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs), a member of the epithelial sodium channel / degeneration superfamily, are a class of voltage-dependent ligands that are selectively cation-permeable to proton (H +) activation Gated ion channels. ASICs are widely distributed in the mammalian nervous system and are involved in a variety of physiological and pathological processes in the body, including pain, learning, memory, synaptic transmission, and plasticity. In recent years, studies have shown that ASICs involved in neuronal damage during cerebral ischemia may serve as new targets for the treatment of ischemic stroke. This review summarizes the recent advances in the role of ASICs in neuronal damage during cerebral ischemia.
