After entering the 1980s, Thailand became one of the fastest growing economies and trade in Southeast Asia. In 1988, Thailand enjoyed an 11% economic growth rate and a total export volume of 16 billion U.S. dollars (an increase of 35.9% over the previous year). Tourism revenue alone reached 2.288 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 21.5% over the previous year. Thailand’s economic achievements have drawn the attention of all countries in the world.
