A recent commentary by Marinos Loser, head of the Agricultural Research Division at Syanyam, USA, recently published in the journal Research and Technology Management, argues that researchers should be given the freedom to trace the anomalies. The article begins by citing the example of the discovery of imidazolinone herbicides: it had been suppressed for 14 years by an authority in an industrial research laboratory as an unimaginable anomaly and finally succeeded. Commenting on this article, it is certainly not surprising that any anomalous phenomenon is present in any research project, which has in fact been seen as a feature of a successful research project.
