新课程需要与之相适应的新教学方式。互动教学符合学生心理特征,适应时代潮流,是一种充分发挥师生的积极性和主动性达到教学目标的不同于传统的教学方式。《现代小学数学》中提出的双向活动论启发教师将其应用于美术教学。它提出:课题教学既教师——学生的双向交流,更引申一步学生和教师组成了一个共同体,通过教师与学生、学生与学生的相互影响和作用完成建构活动。这就要求重新建立一种“相互尊重、相互理解、更加平等民主的师生关系,这需要一种新型的师生互动方式落实到课堂教学中。
