In recent years, many countries and regions in the world have researched and developed edible packaging materials that can be digested and absorbed by the human body, and have broad prospects for the control of white pollution. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Southern Research Center for Agricultural Research, using soybean-derived proteins, has successfully manufactured plastic-like compounds as a new generation of food packaging materials, replacing plastics that were previously synthesized from petroleum. Its production techniques are: soak soybeans with water, soften and grind them, separate proteins from solids, and then dry them by air; the other method is to mechanically remove the water.
