Among the many modern weapons, mines are an obscure weapon that many people are not familiar with. However, in many naval battles from ancient to now, the important role played by mines can not be ignored. During the Gulf War that erupted in 1990, none of the various modern Iraqi offensive weapons, including the “Scud” missiles, caused serious losses to the multinational force. Only 1,200 mines were hurriedly laid off and the U.S. Navy was destroyed. Wounding the flagship “Tripoli” of anti-miners and the missile cruiser “Princeton” and preventing attempts by the United States Navy to land on the Kuwaiti coast. Thus, relevant sources said that the miners played a “four-by-two” role during the Gulf War.
