陶瓷粒子增强铝合金在刚性和强度方面虽然没有陶瓷纤维增强铝合金大,但比一般铝合金大。例如20%的碳化硅陶瓷粒子增强铝合金的弹性系数比一般铝合金大50%,强度大20%,耐热性也比一般铝合金好,因此它的使用温度比一般铝合金高300℃。而且热膨胀小,耐磨损性也好。陶瓷粒子增强铝合金比陶瓷纤维增强铝合金价格低并且便于加工,因此使用改进的加工一般铝合金用的刀
