中国经济形象是中国国家形象的重要组成部分,但经济实力的增强并没有使中国国际形象改善。为了探究二者失调的历史原因,本文基于Time Magazine Corpus,以Chinese和China’s为检索项,结合语料库技术和话语-历史观方法,考察了中国经济形象在《时代》中1949.10-2007.12近60年的演变,发现中国经济形象在1949-1969整体呈现负面;在随后的两个10年中,逐渐转向正面,并在1980年代整体偏向正面;但这种正面形象在1990年代急转直下,偏向负面;2000-2007期间虽然正面评价有所增加,但整体上仍然呈现负面。结合美中关系的历史语境,本文指出,《时代》对中国经济形象的塑造取决于美国的国家利益,这种形象的历时演变本质上是美国全球战略布局调整的结果。
China’s economic image is an important part of China’s national image. However, the enhancement of its economic strength has not improved the international image of China. In order to explore the historical reasons for the imbalance between the two, this article based on Time Magazine Corpus, Chinese and China’s as the search terms, combined with corpus technology and discourse - the concept of history, examines the Chinese economic image in the “era” of 1949.10-2007.12 nearly 60 years Evolved and found that the overall image of China’s economy was negative overall from 1949 to 1969. In the following two 10-year period, it gradually turned positive and the overall bias was positive in the 1980s. However, this positive image turned sharply negative and negative in the 1990s. Although there has been an increase in positive assessments during 2007, they are still negative overall. Combined with the historical context of the U.S.-China relations, this article points out that the shaping of the Chinese economic image by the “Times” depends on the national interests of the United States. The evolution of such images is essentially the result of the adjustment of the U.S. global strategic layout.
