[Editor’s note] Since the tenth issue of last year, the magazine issued a lecture on City Square, one after another received from hundreds of authors from all over the country to write the manuscript, among them are both white-haired academic authority, but also sincerely Due to space limitations, we have selected only 21 of the more representative ones. At this point, the written discussion on this topic will come to an end. We take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to all those who care for and support this discussion The reader expressed his heartfelt thanks. This discussion can be said to be a positive response to the popular “hot plaza” in the whole country. All people, in a serious and responsible attitude and rigorous academic spirit, not only affirmed the importance and necessity of plaza construction, A series of questions raised a fair criticism. For example, when we discussed in the discussion, the emergence of the plaza construction in China today is to some extent an outcome of economic development and an objective demand of the people to improve the quality of life. At the same time, it shows from one aspect that for a long time our country has not enough public space Pay attention. However, the current “plaza hot” is also mixed with some discordant tones. For example, some local leaders regard plaza construction as their flamboyant “political achievement,” but they do not give top priority to the needs of the public. In some places In spite of its economic strength, blindly pursuing the “Grand Plaza” and pursuing the so-called “style”; some cities compete with each other without paying attention to efficiency; some have poorly designed square walls and have absolutely no basic concepts such as function and scale. In fact, urban planning and construction itself is a science, has its own laws, history has repeatedly proved: to engage in sports?
