Glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) and cysteine sulfonate decarboxylase (CSAD) are the synthases of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and taurine, respectively. GABA is one of the major neurotransmitters in the vertebrate central nervous system; taurine is a widely found amino acid in animals that has a high content in the nervous system and is an inhibitory neurotransmitter or a modulator of neurotransmission Quality is still under study. In this paper, the anti-GAD and anti-CSAD serum were used to study the localization of these two kinds of synthase in rat cerebellum and spinal cord to reveal the distribution of GABA and taurine and to provide morphological basis for further study of their function.
