The morphological, oil content and crude protein content, water rate and salt tolerance of eight wild G. hirsutum cultivars were compared with those of three cultivars. The results showed that the seeds of wild germplasm were generally smaller and varied greatly. Seed oil and crude protein content ranged from 23.15% to 39.80% and 28.83% to 39.31%, respectively. Significant differences exist between the rate of water absorption by the wild germplasm and the time to peak water uptake, which is related to the presence of some hard seeds in wild germ lines. Hardwoods of palmeri were all hardwood seeds, and hardwoods of mexicanum, richmondi and yucatanense were 30.0%, 26.6% and 23.3%, respectively. Salt tolerance of wild germplasm at 12% Nacl concentration was more obvious, of which punctatum, morrilli and marie-galante salt tolerance stronger; salt tolerance of mexicanum, latifolium and yucatanense and three cultivars similar. This shows that it is entirely possible to screen for salt-tolerant materials in wild germplasm. Gossypium hirsutum L.race is an important germplasm resource in cotton breeding. Since the early 1980s, the introduction of these wild germplasms from G. hirsutum origin Mexico has made some research and analysis about their biological characteristics and disease resistance and other traits. The data show that they are rich in variation types and have the traits and characteristics available for resistance, insect resistance and quality fiber, respectively. In this study, the seeds of eight wild germplasms were used as materials to study the morphological characteristics of seeds and the ability of water absorption and germination. The seeds of three cultivars were compared to understand the biological characteristics of the germplasm of G. hirsutum. Provide the basis for breeding.
