William Vickrev, one of the most important figures in economics today, has published several books and published more than 140 papers during his academic career in the last 60 years. His important and creative contribution has profoundly influenced modern public economics. His essay covers almost all branches of public economics, mainly in the areas of taxation, social choice and allocation mechanisms, pricing of utilities and urban transport, urban economics and macroeconomic policy.
